The ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ก๐ข ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ is one of the most marginalized groups in Bangladesh, traditionally engaged in leather work such as cobbling and day labor. Despite their significant contributions to the economy and society, they continue to live in poverty and social isolation.ย
๐๐๐๐๐๐ has recently held a ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ญ๐ฒ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ (๐๐ญ๐ก๐๐ง ๐๐จ๐ข๐ญ๐ก๐จ๐ค) ๐ข๐ง ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐, ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ข, ๐๐ก๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ง๐ on domestic violence, women’s rights, and legal and social support services, bringing together women from the marginalized community.ย The session was hosted by ๐๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ค ๐๐ฎ๐ญ๐ญ๐, ๐๐ข๐ซ๐๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ ๐จ๐ ๐๐ ๐๐ญ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ and supported by ๐๐จ๐ง๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ก๐๐ฅ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ก.
The discussions were directed on understanding the different forms of domestic violence and its consequences, women’s rights & available legal & social support. Participants expressed that economic struggles often prevent them from seeking justice or initiating legal proceedings, yet they remain committed to learning skills and becoming economically independent. The session also emphasized the importance of standing by women who experience violence and raise awareness throughout the community. The courtyard meeting (Uthan Boithok) was an important step toward unity, empowerment, and building safe, respectful lives in Marginalized community.
